Unit System:

The software is designed for both English and Metric units. For Metric the user can select either Watt or kCal/hr as heat rate unit.

Furnace Configurator:

Furnaces in the shape of either box or cylinder can be analyzed. The inputs are length, width, and height in the case of box type furnace and height and diameter for cylindrical furnace.

Refractory Selection

User can create their own insulation layers from a list of refractories for each furnace wall.

Door, Gaps & Opening:

Door dimensions, Gap area, and opening information are used to calculate Heat loss through doors, gaps and openings.

Heating Type:

Type of heating can be either Electric. Gas or Oil fired.

Burner Type:

Burners can be selected from conventional, regenerative or oxy fired.

Fuel Type:

List of gaseous and liquid fuels are available for selection.

Material:

Material can be selected from a list of materials.

Process:

The analysis is done at 4 stages

• Heating of solid metal to Melting Point
• Melting of solid metal at Melting Point
• Heating to molten metal to Holding Temp
• Holding molten metal at Holding Temp

Results:

Results include Heating Time, Melting Time, Heating Rates during Heating, Melting and Holding, Heat Loss through Refractory Walls, Gaps & Openings, Heat to raise scraps from ambient to Melting Point, Heat to melt at melting point, Fuel Rate, Air Rate, Flue Loss and Furnace Efficiency.

Reports:

Results from each calculation can be displayed in report format. The results can be directly printed, saved as a PDF format or exported to an Excel spread Sheet.
