CompAS, offers software and services for
Thermal Process Applications. Although the business
model applies broadly across all process manufacturing,
we are currently focused on proving it in the
field of thermal processing.
The immediate market consists of user, designers
and builders of Industrial Furnaces for Heat Treating/Thermal
Processing of metal and ceramic parts, which go
into everything from automobiles to aerospace
components. These industries all share a need
to conserve energy, optimize productivity and
maintain process consistency.
CompAS responds to this need with a unique product
- combining advanced furnace simulation techniques
and thermal design calculations. Unlike other
products on the market that require a user to
engineer the software to fit the application,
FurnXpert is specially designed for furnaces and
heat treating application. It does not require
any customization which translates into faster
turn around times, and significant cost savings.
CompAS team has dedicated over ten years in developing
the products, forming important relationships
with customers, and furnace suppliers and using
it in real-world applications. We have a common
vision and clearly defined responsibilities that
span all the critical functions within the company.

Key
Personnel:
Hill Nandi:
Mr. Nandi has 23 years of experience in Engineering
Analysis, Process Simulation, Plant Automation,
and IT in manufacturing. During this time he has
designed, built, and installed several Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for
thermal process industries, including development
and implementation of model-based computer control
systems for Industrial Furnaces. His wide range
of experience started with Field Service Engineer
at Surface Combustion. Later he worked as Thermal
Application Engineer at Salem Furnace, Senior
Process Engineer at Davy-Dravo, Controls/Automation
Manager at Tippins and Consulting Engineer at
Bricmont.
In 1993 he formed Comp Analysis, a consulting
firm, a predecessor to CompAS, developing simulation
software and plant automation systems for fortune
500 companies. He wrote the initial business plan
for CompAS as part of the entrepreneurship program
at Carnegie
Mellon University's Graduate Business School.
CMU named Mr. Nandi Manufacturing Entrepreneur
for his work. In 1998 he formed CompAS, to implement
the award-winning plan.
Besides an MBA, Mr. Nandi holds MS degree in Computational Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer from University of Miami and BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state
of Pennsylvania. As a member of ASME, ASM, he regularly contributes articles on Heat Treating and Process Control in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Heating, Powder Metallurgy and Heat Treating journals.
Roger Schreiber:
Mr. Schreiber has 28 years of business experience, including 10years in corporate finance and strategy. He comes to CompAS from a global industrial manufacturer, where he was responsible for strategic and financial planning, mergers & acquisitions and a wide range of special projects. His prior experience includes analyzing international investments for a leading technology firm, and managing complex power projects. Mr. Schreiber holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh. At CompAS he is responsible for Administration and Finance.
Sutapa Datta:
Ms. Datta has 19 years of experience in Engineering and IT. For the first eight years after her graduation she worked for Dastur International a world renowned consulting engineering firm in India. There in their thermal division she worked on projects related to heat treating and reheating processes. In that capacity she was directly involved in sizing of reheat and heat treating furnaces, design of furnaces for foundry and forge shops, and simulation of continuous annealing lines. As a thermal engineer her other responsibilities included selecting
combustion systems and specifying refractory materials.
After a successful carrier in engineering
she moved to IT, where she has been working for 11years on IT Enabled Services related to software development. Her primary involvement is in System Development for MIS (Management Information services) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) using VB and Java to develop User Interface with Oracle database on the back end. She is also involved in developing User Interface for Engineering Applications. She has a Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University, India and Diploma in Computer Engineering from NIIT.
Siddhartha Das:
Mr. Das has 22 years of experience in Finite Element based Engineering Analysis, Software Development in Atomic Power, Space and Manufacturing industries. During this period, he has also managed several large Software Development Programs worth 200 million USD serving Fortune 500 companies and several top-tier organizations across the world. He enjoys wide spectrum of knowledge in IT Development, Testing, Process, Quality and Delivery as per SEI CMM standard. He has been associated with Wipro, Perot Systems and Navionics - all SEI CMM level-5 IT organizations - as GM and Business Head.
He has designed, developed and delivered a host of value added Software Products winning 18 international awards. He also conceptualized, designed and developed a host of software automation systems slashing final operation time by 2500%. A large chunk of his hands-on software development work has been archived as pioneering effort. He was adjudged IT Leader of India in 1997.
He is an M-Tech from Jadavpur University, India and certified in Software Quality from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
